For a last minute break between Xmas and New Year with the dog that included parking this was perfect. For what we paid, we was happy with what we got. Room was clean, warm and comfy. On NYE we was able to join the Gala entertainment to see the New Year in. I had the pool to myself the day I used it, it wasn’t too cold, and changing rooms were warm too. Was about 10mins to the beach, and then about 40mins to walk along to the pier and to see the Christmas lights. Lots of other reviews mentioned temperature… we were able to adjust the heating dials and open windows/balcony door to maintain it to how we wanted (so wasn’t too hot or too cold for us). Other reviews also mentioned the rooms being dated, yes the room we was in was dated but this wasn't a problem for us, we just wanted somewhere clean for us and the dog in Bournemouth. And finally, there were also reviews complaining about staff, we had no issues with the staff, all of the ones we met were friendly and attentive. Only staff we heard complain were the cleaners and that was just because their hoover had been moved from where they left it the day before. I would visit this hotel again if I were to return to Bournemouth.

We stayed here for a night to catch a ferry in Poole early the next day. The room and hotel was good for the price and I was happy with my stay. The en-suite bathroom was absolutely fine with bath and shower working well. It was clean. I liked the bar and the simple food at a good price. They also do a 3 course meal in the dining room but I just wanted a toasty and crisps and it was fine. The place was fairly busy as I got there about the time a conference or reunion or something was coming to an end. I loved the atmosphere in this old-school hotel with the people around and having a nice time.

The hotel was more suited to older clientelle but we still found it fitting as a family visit. The decor was a mixture of "old style" hotel but had flashes of modernisation mixed in. Overall we found it quite lovely and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. It was also in a good location close to the seafront. They even had a prom going on jn the function room; although at the beginning the car park got a bit jammed up it did not affect our stay and we did not hear anything from the event either!

Although check in was 3pm we were allowed to use the car park at 10 am as we were already in Bournemouth. Rooms are a little outdated but it is a very old building. The bed's mattress was hard but that is too my preference so slept very well. I only stayed for one night as I extended my holiday one more day and had to switch to this hotel as the one I was staying in wanted £95.00 for the night. Booking.com provided this one for £43.00. There is entertainment on every night.

We loved the room it was really spacious. The bed was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was really good and the pool was a lovely way to end a busy day with a lovely leisurely swim. Some guest reviews said the furniture is old and tired, some of it is, but surely it's better to have a clean, comfortable homely room rather than a white sterile cold room. We will be back again.
